Pasakha to have new satellite clinic

The need for a hospital in Pasakha in Phuentshogling has become crucial due to the growing population in the area. Recognising the need, Phuentshogling Thromde has begun the design and estimation work for the much-needed facility.

Pasakha is not only home to the people of Samphelling Gewog but also serves as an industrial hub, hosting hundreds of workers.

Despite having a primary healthcare centre at Rangaytung which is nearly 15 kilometres from Pasakha, the facility is rarely used due to its remote location and poor road conditions.

As a result, most residents travel nearly 20 kilometres to the Phuentshogling General Hospital for medical services.

Rinchen, Sengyegang- Tshochhungna Tshogpa said “Travelling to Rangaytung healthcare centre is challenging. It is difficult to hire a vehicle and even if we manage to get one, the road condition is poor. So, the majority of us go to Phuentshogling hospital but it is expensive to travel to Phuentshogling for low-income people.”

Tara Rai, a resident said “If we get a hospital in Pasakha, it will help us a lot. It would take 40 minutes to go to Phuentshogling and it is very challenging during emergencies.”

Ram Kumar Rai, Samphelling Gup said “It is very important to have a hospital here. In Pasakha, there are two chiwogs of the Thromde, industries, and Samphelling Gewog with a combined population of about five thousand. These people have to travel to Phuentshogling. So, if there is a hospital here, it will help not only the people of Samphelling Gewog but everyone.”

Uttar Kumar Rai, Phuentshogling Thrompon said “People have been expecting it for a long time. So, we have allocated about 35 million ngultrum in the 13th Five-Year Plan. And in this fiscal year, we are doing the design and estimate.”

The construction of a hospital in Pasakha is also expected to reduce congestion in Phuentshogling Hospital, especially during the summer.

According to the Thrompon, the design and estimation works are set to be completed by mid-next year, after which construction will begin.
