Central Election Dispute Settlement Body upholds districts’ decisions on four election-related cases

The Central Election Dispute Settlement Body has upheld all the decisions made by the Dzongkhag Election Dispute Settlement bodies with regard to four election-related disputes. The decisions, according to the Election Commission of Bhutan were made after a careful review. The cases, pertaining to the ongoing National Assembly elections were received from candidates and an individual from Wangdue Phodrang and Trashigang.

The appeal cases were made against the decisions rendered by the Dzongkhag Election Dispute Settlement bodies.

The Central Election Dispute Settlement Body upheld the Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag Election Dispute Settlement Body’s decision to fine a penalty of Nu 37,500 to Tandin Wangchuk, the PDP’s Athang_Thedtsho candidate. He was fined for breaching electoral laws during the live public debate according to the ECB.

 

 

 

 

Similarly, the Dzongkhag Election Dispute Settlement Body’s decision to fine Kuenga, the PDP’s Nyishog_Saephu candidate a fine of 37,500 ngultrum for violating electoral laws in the live public debate was also retained.

 

 

 

 

 

Likewise, the Trashigang Dzongkhag Election Dispute Settlement Body’s ruling on levying a Nu 37,500 fine on Norbu Wangchuk, the PDP’s Kanglung_Samkhar_Udzorong candidate, for making false allegations against BTP Candidate Pema Chewang was also unaltered.

 

 

 

 

 

And, the same Dzongkhag Election Dispute Settlement Body’s decision to impose a fine of Nu 15,000 on an individual named Kinzang Tobgay from Kanglung for disseminating untrue information was also unchanged.
