People across the country will be celebrating Thruebab or Blessed Rainy Day on Sunday. But the auspicious time to take a bath to cleanse off bad deeds and defilements starts from 6:49 PM tomorrow. According to the Pangrizampa College for Astrology, all forms of water will be sanctified for a week.

According to the principal of the College for Astrology, people should face towards the North when washing themselves during the holy period.

‘‘Taking a bath will purify our external and internal defilements. Similarly, we have to pray for 424 different types of disease to be cured. In addition, it is said that it has the power to cleanse our past sins,” said Sithar Gyeltshen, the principal.

He added that during the time of a blessed rainy day, it is believed that the water bodies will be sanctified even if there is no rain.

‘‘It is not necessary that there should be rain. Instead, we should pray and believe that the water bodies will be transformed into holy water.’’

Thruebab marks the end of the rainy season and the beginning of the harvest season in the country.
