The Prime Minister says the Indian government has given a green signal to resume exporting its non-basmati white rice to Bhutan. The Foreign and External Trade Minster Dr Tandi Dorji told BBS that he received a text message and verbal assurance from Indian counterparts guaranteeing the export of non-basmati white rice and some other rice brands to Bhutan soon.

The government had recently written to the Indian government requesting to lift the ban on rice export for Bhutan. India imposed a ban on the export of non-basmati white rice on 20th July to stabilise prices in the domestic market.
