The government has confirmed that the sixth Pay Commission will be instituted soon. According to the Prime Minister, the members of the Pay Commission will be the same as in the fifth Pay Commission led by Dasho Ugen Chewang, the former Chairperson of the Druk Holding and Investments. The Prime Minister has yet to issue an executive order to constitute the sixth Pay Commission.
According to Article 30 of the Constitution, the Pay Commission shall recommend to the Government revisions in the structure of the salary, allowances, benefits, and other emoluments of the Royal Civil Service, the Judiciary, the members of Parliament and Local Governments, the holders and the members of constitutional offices and all other public servants with due regard to the economy of the Kingdom and other provisions of this Constitution.
