The Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) will conduct a leadership assessment exercise for officers in P1 Management or P1M positions from November 12, which is more than two weeks away from now.

According to the commission’s news release, this is part of its process to identify potential candidates for executive-level positions.

However, the commission says this assessment applies to those P1 M officials, who wish to apply for the executive position.

Therefore, interested officers in the P1M position level will have to submit a 500-word essay through the online application system, which is a new assessment tool for them. Then they will be shortlisted for the second round of assessment. Those getting through this assessment will undergo the final round of assessment.

However, the RCSC says performing well in the final round of assessment does not guarantee the candidates for the executive positions.

They will have to face one more selection process to be selected for executive positions. The commission says unsuccessful applicants can remain in their P1 M positions.

There are more than 400 civil servants in the P1M position level, including those on deputation, extraordinary leave and study leave.
