The UNICEF’s newly appointed Regional Director for South Asia based in Kathmandu, Karin Hulshof, called on the Prime Minister In-Charge Lyonpo Yeshey Zimba earlier today.  She arrived in the country yesterday on a six day visit.

This is her first visit to Bhutan after being appointed as the UNICEF Regional Director in April 2012.

While in the country, she is scheduled to call on Ministers of Health, Education, Labour and Human Resources and meet other senior government officials to discuss how best UNICEF can continue supporting the Bhutanese government.

Ms. Hulshof will also be meeting with the Women and Children Committee and the Education Development Committee of the parliament to understand first-hand the situation of women, children and youth in the country.

She will also interact with members of the youth groups in the country on how UNICEF can best partner with them.
