NI-TAG rules out COVID vaccine as cause for two recent deaths

The National Immunization Technical Advisory Group or NI-TAG has ruled out that the two recent deaths in the country are not due to the COVID vaccine. A 59-year-old man in Dagana died almost two days after getting his second dose. And in Trashigang, a 69-year-old man died four days after getting vaccinated.

According to local medical experts, both of the men had pre-medical conditions. They said any severe allergic reaction from the vaccines would have shown immediately or within a maximum of twelve hours.

“Immediate death due to vaccine can occur due to anaphylaxis which can occur immediately within half an hour, which is why we observe all the patients. In very uncommon condition up to 12 hours but not after 4 days. So the NI-TAG have discussed in the meeting and have attributed it to his pre-existing heart disease, which would have been prevented,” said Dr G.P. Dhakal a member of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group.
