In order to enhance coverage, improve accessibility, and minimise movements of people between zones, the health ministry is introducing mobile flu clinics in Thimphu from tomorrow. However, people without flu symptoms are advised not to visit the clinic as there is a risk of COVID-19 infection.

People availing themselves of the flu clinic service will no longer be required to wait for the e-permit from 1010. DeSuups and Traffic Police will facilitate movement and travel.

The ministry has arranged two mobile vans to cover nine identified locations in the northern and southern parts of Thimphu. The vans will be stationed at the selected locations as per a daily schedule the ministry has prepared.

”The areas to be covered by the mobile flu clinics are selected as per the population density of the place and convenience of the public,’’ said Rixin Jamtsho, the Chief Program Officer with the Health Ministry.

And those visiting the mobile flu clinics should adhere to the safety protocols such as wearing a face mask, washing hands, and maintaining a physical distance. Only individuals from the same family will be allowed to travel in the same car at the same time.

Meanwhile, more than 4500 people in Thimphu have been screened for COVID-19 from flu clinics since the lockdown. Likewise, around 16,400 people have been tested in 56 flu clinics across the country since the lockdown was enforced.
