More farmers in Merag might start rearing sheep now. Today, 46 households rear some 2,800 sheep. But the practice has been declining due to feral dogs attacking the flocks and lack of grazing land. Four wool-processing machines are now in the gewog to help produce better quality yarn. Better quality means more demand.
