Embracing modernisation has in many cases led to the erosion of age-old traditions and cultures. This has been proven true by the declining trend of the Babshey song sung by farmers during paddy harvest in Boomdeling and Yangtse of Trashi Yangtse. Today only a few in the two villages know the song.
