UPDATE: According to an update, posted by the Ministry of Health on their Facebook page, it has been established by the quarantine and surveillance teams of MOH along with the Royal Bhutan Police investigating the circulation of a screenshot of WeChat conversation , that the viral news is not true.

According to the screenshot of the WeChat conversation that went viral on social media, the patient who tested positive after 21 days of quarantine had let her boyfriend in her quarantine facility and the police were still looking for the boy.

After the COVID-19 patient denied the rumour of bringing her boyfriend to the quarantine facility, the health minister has forwarded the case to the police.

In a separate incident, the Kuensel Management has dismissed a rumour of a Kuensel reporter coming in direct contact with a COVID-19 positive patient.

In Kuensel’s issue today, the management clarified that the reporter did not come in direct contact. Kuensel clarified that on May 15, the reporter with consent from hotel owner and security personnel entered the green zone and took an interview over the phone from the lobby.

However, as there was a positive case from the hotel, the reporter and the two drivers who accompanied the reporter are quarantined for 21 days and they have been asked to pay the quarantine fees for the breach of quarantine protocols.

The Managing Editor of Kuensel Ugyen Penjore said that the company would bear the fees since they were on assignment.

The health ministry said that they are also liable for the 10-day community service after the quarantine period.

Sixteen of the reporter’s primary contacts are in home quarantine for a week.
