Cases of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) worldwide has increased by about 40,000 in the last two days. Today, there are over 220,000 cases being reported globally with over 85,000 recovered.

Yesterday, about 21,000 new cases were reported and about 1,000 new deaths. Over 4,000 new cases and one-day death cases of 475 were reported in Italy alone. It was one of the highest death cases of the one-day official toll of any nation since the first case was detected in China last year.

China reports no new domestic case yesterday.

And in an attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19, the US and Canada have agreed to close the border to all non-essential travel

The UAE said resident visas holders who are currently abroad will not be allowed back for two weeks.

In Australia, non-essential gatherings of more than 100 people are banned though the number of cases remains lower than in Europe and North America. And ban on all arrivals of non-residents and non-Australian citizens coming to Australia will be in place.

COVID-19 has affected about 176 countries until now.
