Over hundred thousand confirmed cases of COVID-19 globally

The WHO’s latest situation report on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) reveals over 109,500 confirmed COVID-19 cases in 104 countries across the globe.

Going by the report, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 around the world was updated in the last 24 hours.

The latest worldwide figure stands at 109,577. In mainland China, where the virus originated in December last year, there are 80,904 confirmed cases. The figure remains the highest in the world.

In the South-East Asia Region, Thailand has 50 confirmed cases, India 43, and one each in Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

In the Eastern Mediterranean Region, Iran saw total confirmed COVID-19 cases of over 6,500. In the UAE, there are 45 confirmed cases so far. Meanwhile, Qatar has 15 cases.

In the Western-Pacific Region, Republic of Korea currently has 7,382 confirmed cases, Japan 488, Singapore 150, Australia 77 and Malaysia 93.

In the European Region, Italy records 7,375 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Germany now has 1,112 and Spain 589. The United Kingdom and The Netherlands have 277 and 265 respectively.

The global deaths from COVID-19 have passed 3809.
