Gelegphu Central Regional Referral Hospital (GCRRH) bought medical equipment worth around Nu 6.3 M recently with funds received from Sangay Nyenpa Rinpoche. Rinpoche donated Nu 7.4 M to procure medical equipment for the well being of people.

The amount was gathered from the devotees who offered Ku-Sung-Thuk Mendrel to Rinpoche during the 40-day Wanglung which took place in Gelegphu beginning of this year.

The hospital bought 10 different types of medical equipment among which one is Laparoscope equipment set worth Nu 1.9 M. The hospital did not have this equipment set which is used during surgery.

“With the help of this machine, we would be able to provide key whole surgery which actually avoids providing large incitation. The patients will have lesser complication and recovery would be faster with the help of this equipment,” said Dorji Tshering, the medical superintendent at the GCRRH.

The hospital plans to purchase other required medical equipment with the balance fund amounting to more than Nu 1.1 M.

“There are few more equipment such as hysteroscopy sets and even the PT odometer machine that we are hoping to purchase with the remaining fund,” he added.

The GCRRH caters medical services to the people of four central dzongkhags.
