Tsirang Dzongkhag Tshogdu decided to appeal the government to establish a Nursing college in the district. It was repeatedly discussed in the earlier National Assembly and Dzongkhag Tshogdu meetings as well.

The members unanimously decided to appeal the relevant stakeholders for opening the Nursing college in the district. The members said with the district centrally located with a moderate climate, it would come as a blessing for the youth in the region.

They also said youth were compelled to do all sort of work in a foreign land after failing to secure a job in the country. The district plans to provide adequate training skills in nursing as demand for nurses is high abroad.

“Our aim is the youth, not only of Tsirang but every youth in the country who could be trained in the nursing college here. Even if it is not a college it could be an institute for nursing. Then we can send our youth abroad to work as nurses rather than day labour,” Tsirang Dzongda Pema said.

“We are comfortable with all the features required to establish a college here so this time I am hopeful that the government would consider our resolution,” Beda Moni Chamlagai, the Kilkhorthang Gup, said.

Meanwhile, the present government had also pledged to start a Nursing college in the district during the election campaign.
