A strategic planning workshop for South Asia Initiative to End Voilence Against Childen is underway in Paro. The three day workshop began today. It is a project, which aims at enhancing protection of children in South Asia, especially the most vulnerable, from all forms of violence.
This is being done through enhanced advocacy, raised awareness and strengthened capacity of the implementing institutions and the target population.
The project was approved by the 12th SAARC Development Fund Board meeting last year.
During the three-day workshop, participants will look into creating a common understanding on its objectives and expected outputs within the project‘s life span.
It will also define roles and responsibilities of the different stakeholders involved in the implementation of the project.
At the opening, Education Minister, Thakur Singh Powdyel, said it is important to come up with such initiatives and provide safety to the children of South Asia.
Participants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are attending the workshop.
