DPT’s General Secretary Sangay Phurba

The Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) has denied the Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa’s allegation of having recruited 20 youths to defame DNT and its candidates on the social media.

The DPT called a press conference yesterday following a Kuensel report about the issue.

DPT says social media is an open platform and anyone can comment anything.

“DNT’s President accusing DPT of recruiting 20 youths for criticizing DNT and its candidates on the social media is not true at all. We don’t know where they got such information from,” Sangay Phurba, General Secretary of DPT, said.

“We do not even have money to pay our own employees. How can we manage to pay 20 youths?”

DPT also refuted DNT’s allegation that they are criticizing DNT’s party pledges.

“During the campaign period, it is important to see whether the pledges are relevant and reasonable. It should not be construed as a criticism,” Sangay Phurba said.

“Even our pledges are criticized by the people but we are not reacting to it. In fact, we are happy that we can bring improvement to our pledges.”

He also added that DPT’s pledge of involving the private sector in producing 10,000 MW of electricity has been misunderstood.

The DPT’s Secretary General clarified that the party is not intending to straightway handover the projects to the sector. However, it is important to involve them in various ways to strengthen the sector.
