Wangdue Phodrang court now has an additional bench. The Chief Justice Tshering Wangchuk inaugurated the court’s second bench today.

It was opened to keep up with the increasing number cases that the court has been seeing over the years.

The district court handles 400 to 500 cases every year on an average. The opening of the second bench is expected to enable the court to deliver faster and better services.

A deputy judge will preside over the bench for now, but a Drangpon will be appointed for the bench soon.

Wangdue Phodrang is home to about 30,000 people.
