Man assaulted

A 72-year-old man has been attacked by an unidentified person with a knife in Phuentsholing on Saturday.

The incident took place at around 5.30 pm near the Amo Chu bank. The victim who was from Bartsham Gewog was attending the Kamai Wang Lung.

He was going to attend a call of nature when the unidentified man stopped him. The assailant placed a knife on his neck and demanded for his mobile phone. When he said he did not have one and screamed for help, the unidentified man fled the scene after slitting his throat.

According to a doctor at the Phuentsholing hospital where he was taken for medical treatment, the wound was only skin deep and is not life threatening.
