A debate is being conducted. The speaker seems to be speaking to an empty open space. But if you look carefully the audiences are all sitting some 100 metres away from the speaker.
The education system in Bhutan stresses on wholesome education. A multipurpose hall especially in a hot place like Gelephu becomes very crucial in imparting wholesome education to the students. But in the absence of one, students Gelephu Higher Secondary School is facing a lot of problem.
Students complain that because of the weather it is difficult to concentrate on the co-curricular activities, which are mostly held outside.
“If we have a hall we can concentrate. Without a hall we cannot hear everything the speaker is saying,” says one of the students.
But the school hopes to solve this problem soon.
“We have now got the budget and we hope to construct the multipurpose hall which will solve most of our problems,” says Yangka Dem, the Principal.
The Gelephu Higher Secondary School was started in 2004 and has over 500 students.
