The relatives of the 18 Bhutanese pilgrims who perished in the tragic plane crash in Nepal in December last year have received the insurance money.

The tragedy occurred on December 15 last year in Nepal.

The 18 Bhutanese pilgrims were returning to Kathmandu from Daphu Martika on-board Tara Air, a domestic airline, when it crashed killing all on board.

The twin otter plane went missing shortly after take-off from the Lamidanda airport, 162 kilometres east of Kathmandu.

Each victim was provided US$ 20,000 as insurance. The money was given to the nearest family member on Monday.
