His Holiness the Je Khenpo consecrated the Guru Thongdroel at the Tashichhodzong earlier this morning. The Thondroel, measuring 108 by 85 feet, will be the biggest Thongdroel in the country.

The Thongdroel is being offered to the government by Khenpo Sangay Choeda, from Bumthang.

It took over two years to make the Thongdroel. He said that the Thongdroel was constructed for the long life of the Monarchs and for the peace and harmony of the Kingdom.

The Prime Minister Lyonchhen Jigmi Y. Thinley, Cabinet Ministers, parliamentarians and senior government officials were also present at the consecration ceremony.
