One year sentence for former Principal

The Wangdue Dzongkhag Court has sentenced the former Principal of Gaselo Higher Secondary School, Tshering Dorji, to one year imprisonment yesterday.

The Principal was charged for misuse and misappropriation of government funds and offence of an official misconduct.

According to the verdict, the defendant has to pay the amount of Nu. 75,800 that he siphoned, within ten days.

The defendant can pay fine in lieu of the imprisonment.

The defendant can appeal to the High Court within 10 days, if he is not happy with the verdict.
