The number of people applying for the post of Tshogpa in Sarpang has seen an increase after their salary was raised to Nu.5,000.
In Sarpang district, 23 posts for Tshogpas have remained vacant for want of candidates. This time, 30 hopeful candidates have come forward to contest the elections.
Jatu Tshewang is one of them. He plans to contest for the post of Tshogpa from Gakiling chiwog under Hilley Geog.
“After the salary revision, many people are showing interest in taking up the post of Tshogpas. It is good to have more candidates.”
According to the election officer of Sarpang district, two chiwogs, Wangchilu and Labtsakha, still do not have Tshogpa candidates.
