Her Majesty the Queen Mother Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck launched the Himalayan trilogy novels: The Things to Leave Behind, A Himalayan Love Story and The Book of Shadows, at Tarayana Centre in Thimphu, yesterday.

The three novels were authored by Namita Gokhale, the writer, publisher, and the co-director of Mountain Echoes- a literary festival.

Her Majesty the Queen Mother, the Chief Patron of Mountain Echoes- a literary festival said the 8th edition of the literary festival which will take place this August is playing key role in developing literature in Bhutan.

Her Majesty also said the literary festival has been encouraging young authors to write books and inculcate reading culture. The first Mountain Echoes festival was initiated in 2010. The festival is an initiative by the India-Bhutan Foundation with Siyahi.

It brings in every year, numerous local and international writers, artists and authors to share their common love for Literature and Art.
