A portrait of the Royal Family at Trongsa Dzong, on the occasion of His Royal Highness The Gyalsey’s first visit to Trongsa Dzong on December 18

His Majesty The King, His Majesty The Fourth Druk Gyalpo and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen with His Royal Highness The Gyalsey, visited Trongsa Dzong, yesterday.

The visit was of special significance as it was The Gyalsey’s first visit.

The Chairperson of the National Council Dasho Sonam Kinga said it is felt as if Jigme Namgyel has finally returned to Trongsa Dzong after 135 years.

Desi Jigme Namgyel held the office of Trongsa Penlop and went on to build strong foundations for Bhutan and the Monarchy.

His Royal Highness The Gyalsey receives blessings from the most sacred and exalted artefacts housed in the Trongsa Dzong.

Since then, every future King of Bhutan goes on to become Trongsa Penlop before taking over reign as the country’s monarch.

Their Majesties and The Gyalsey offered prayers in the sacred Goenkhangs in the Dzong.

Later that day, His Majesty granted an Audience to all the volunteers who worked for the National Day Celebrations, and thanked them personally for their involvement.
