Pre-financing of donor-committed projects not from government’s revenue, finance minister says

pre-financing-of-donor-committed-projects-not-from-governments-revenue-finance-minister-saysResponding to Bartsham-Shongphu MP, Wangdi Norbu, the finance minister, Namgay Dorji said pre-financing of the donor-committed projects in the country is not from the government’s coffer.

He said the projects are pre-financed from the grants released by the Government of India.

MP Wangdi Norbu, in the National Assembly today, asked how the pre-financing is done for the donor-committed projects.

Lyonpo Namgay Dorji said in this current plan, over Nu 1 B of the Nu 2.3 B required to pre-finance the donor-committed projects have been “adjusted “so far.

The Government of India promised to provide Nu 45 B for the 11th Five Year Plan.

Lyonpo said they have received Nu 20 B for the Project-Tied Assistance and Small Development Projects. Of the Nu 20 B, they have used Nu 16 B.

He said the government also has some pending amounts to be received from the Government of India for the project tied assistance and small development projects.

Lyonpo said the objective of pre-financing is to timely complete of the projects in the country.
