After months of hard work, Chandrika introduced her Eco-friendly brand of clothing along with hand woven Bhutanese Textiles in Thimphu, last weekend.

From a young age, Chandrika wanted to work on designs which are beautiful but has less impact on  environment. Since clothing industries are the second largest polluter in the world, she wanted to go Eco-friendly.bhutanese-designer-introduces-eco-friendly-clothing-line

Unlike chemical dyes, natural dye does not harm environment, according to Chandrika.

“I want to be a farsighted kind of designer.”

Natural dyes are derived from plants and minerals. The dyes are not only environment friendly but also last longer.

After working with Bank of Bhutan for six years, Chandrika left the job to follow her passion.

In 2015, a fashion designing training in India, through the economic affairs ministry, gave her the push to work on her own.

CDK has four employees.
