There will be no structural damages to the headrace tunnel of Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project Authority (MHPA), which is being used to divert traffic.
Concerns were raised about the possible damages, vehicles plying through the tunnel, could cause.
The two-kilometre headrace tunnel, which is currently used to divert traffic along the Trongsa-Zhemgang highway, is meant to divert water.
The Director Technical of Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project Authority RK Choudhary said the only risk is allowing petrol-fuelled vehicles, which is highly inflammable, to ply.
He added the surface of the tunnel may deteriorate due to continuous travelling vehicles at some points, but will not cause any structural damages.
The tunnel is being used after heavy rainfall blocked the Trongsa-Zhemgang at Dzongkhalum in July, this year.
