Bhutan appreciated for elimination of maternal and neonatal tetanus

bhutan-appreciated-for-elimination-of-maternal-and-neonatal-tetanusBhutan received a certificate of appreciation from the World Health Organization for successful elimination of maternal and neonatal tetanus in the country.

Bhutan eliminated the disease in 2000.

All other member countries of South East Asia region received the recognition for eliminating the disease.

South East Asia is the second WHO region to achieve the elimination.

The award ceremony was held Tuesday, at the 69th Regional Committee of WHO South East Asia in Sri Lanka.
