Exclusion in decision making displeases local leadersThe Local Leaders of Bumthang said they were never consulted before the forestry sector was de-linked from dzongkhag administration.

It has been a month since the sector started functioning under Territorial Divisions and National Parks.

“It seems like local government is not really necessary. On the one hand they say we are important but on the other hand I feel we are neglected,” said Chhoekhor Gup, Sangla.

Chhumig Gewog’s Mangmi, Kesang said the services are being taken away unlike the government’s promise.  “The government says they will provide the services at our doorstep.”

The sector was de-linked upon the recommendation of Royal Civil Service Commission’s organizational development exercise.
