Her-Majesty-Inaugurates-Wheelchair-Accessibility-Adaptation-of-Centenary-Park-Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen graced the unveiling ceremony of Wheelchair Accessibility Adaptation of the Centenary Park in Thimphu, yesterday. The adaptation is part of an initiative to make public spaces accessible to people with disabilities.

Following the initiative of the Ability Bhutan Society, which consulted experts and designed structures to make the Centenary Park Wheelchair accessible, ramps and railings were installed by the Thimphu Thromde.

The Thimphu Thromde plans to work with Ability Bhutan Society to take forward the initiative and work on making other public areas in Thimphu accessible to people with disabilities.

The event was jointly organised by Ability Bhutan Society, the Royal Society for Protection of Nature, Bhutan Kidney Foundation, and Thimphu Thromde.

Besides the Prime Minister and government officials, the event was attended by people living with disabilities and their families. Students from Ability Bhutan Society, Draktsho, Wangsel Institute Paro, and Changangkha School participated in the event, along with members of the Disabled Persons Association of Bhutan.
