NC discusses TCB’s reportThe National Council discussed Tourism Council of Bhutan’s report, yesterday.

Chhukha’s NC MP, Pema Tenzin said TCB had taken into account most of the recommendations; the National Council had come up with the previous session.

The main recommendation was to frame a comprehensive sustainable tourism policy and to draft a tourism bill to provide legal basis for tourism sector regulation.

Doing away with the fixed daily tourist tariff of US$ 250 and coming up with a new pricing mechanism was also part of recommendations.

The House also requested the Royal Audit Authority to audit tax files of the tourism industry to address undercutting.

Undercutting apparently takes place when tour agencies sell tourist packages below the market price.
