Budget Report presented in the National AssemblyFinance minister, Namgay Dorji, while presenting the National Budget Report in the National Assembly, yesterday said Nu 41B is the total estimated budget for 2016-17.

Of the total, Nu 21 B is domestic revenue Nu 14 B, external grants.

Education and general public services sector will receive the highest of over Nu 10 B, which constitutes over 20 percent of the total projection, from the projected budget outlay.

The external grant for 2016-17 financial year is estimated at a little more than Nu 14B and is expected to cover 27.6 percent of the total expenditure. The total expenditure is projected at more than Nu 51 B.

The government has allocated Nu 7 M for Dzongkhag Development Grant for the next financial year. They initiated a system to allocate a share of human resource development budget to the dzongkhags to professionalize civil service.

This is to strengthen the decentralization process and to enhance good governance at grass root level.
