Punakha police apprehended six men for allegedly possessing 20 grams of narcotic drugs, yesterday. They were arrested near Khuruthang Bridge on their way to Thimphu from Punakha in a taxi.
All of them, including the taxi driver, were under the influence of drugs at the time of arrest.
The suspects, in their statement to the police, said they came to Punakha to collect drugs.
According to Narcotic drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Substance Abuse Act, 2015, a person possessing seven grams and above is charged for illicit trafficking of cannabis and its derivatives.
