PM lauds Samtse’s progress

PM lauds Samtse’s progressThe Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay lauded Samtse Dzongkhag’s impressive performance during the 11th Five Year Plan midterm review, yesterday.

Out of 55 key performance indicators (KPIs), Samtse has achieved 27 while 26 are on track.

In percentile, the dzongkhag has achieved 93 percent of the target under the KPIs. Some of the achievements far exceeded the targets. Lyonchhen said he was impressed with Samtse’s progress and praised effort that went into achieving these targets.

Some of the areas include production of cardamom, eggs, vegetable, ginger, areca nut, maize, paddy, fish and mandarin.

Samtse Dzongkhag was also praised for having the highest number of farm roads among the 20 dzongkhags.

Of the 215 kilometres farm road target in 11th Five Year plan, 165 kilometres have been constructed. The Dzongkhag also have the highest number of irrigation channels, at 16, and four of those are considered the biggest projects, which will help irrigate over 2,000 acres of land.
