Former customs’ RD intentionally deceived the state- OAGOffice of the Attorney General (OAG) said the former Regional Director of Revenue and Customs Office, Choyzang Tashi intentionally deceived the state. OAG put up their submission for the preliminary hearing to the Phuentshogling Dungkhag Court, today.

Choyzang Tashi has been charged with 15 different counts for allegedly forging signatures on three trade license, in his capacity as the Regional Director in 2005.  He is said to have forged signatures in all the related paperwork needed to avail the licenses.

Choyzang Tashi, in his defense today, said he did not intend to deceive the state. He said he just facilitated his in-laws to get licenses.

He has also been charged with an offence related to witness. He allegedly asked witnesses to not reveal the truth during investigation.

Five others have also been charged for the same case. Of the five, one is the former Regional Director’s subordinate who has been charged for aiding and abetting.  The other four are Choyzang Tashi’s relatives. They have been charged for giving false information.

The defendants will submit their statements in March.
