Four more charging stations for electric vehicles to be installedThe Minister of Information and Communications, D.N Dhungyel said four more charging stations for electric vehicles will be installed in the country by the end of January. There are two quick charging stations, one in Paro International Airport and the other one at Centenary Farmers Market in Thimphu, as of now.

The new ones will be placed in Chuzom and Paro. The other two will be installed in Thimphu.

However, the minister said taking care of the charging stations had become a challenge for the government.

“Initially, when we started or when we thought of building charging stations, the challenges that came to the government was who is going to manage and maintain this, Who is going to own it?”

Lyonpo said it was not possible for the government to keep an eye on the charging stations. He said it was also not possible to give the task to the private sector.

The government then went for an open tender. Thimphu Home Care Service has been selected to take care of the stations.
