NSB to carry out housing census next year

NSBThe national statistics bureau is carrying out its pre census activity to conduct the second population and housing census next year. Today, enumerators are sticking identification stickers on the doorframes of every household.

The sticker will be used while the actual census survey starts next year.

About 9,000 enumerators will be required to conduct the actual census next year.

The national statistics bureau conducts its housing and population census every ten years. NSB’s director general Kinga Tshering said, it was imperative to know the population of the country so the government can plan and prioritize accordingly.

Today 64 enumerators have completed house listing and mapping exercise in Phuentsholing, Gelephu and Samdrup Jongkhar. They will also be visiting other urban and rural areas in the country.

Around Nu 197M has been allocated to conduct the Population and Housing Census of Bhutan.The census information will be published by 2017.
