PM launches three events as part of celebration

PM-OGOPThe Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay launched three events in the capital as part of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo’s 60th Birth Anniversary, today.

One Gewog One Product (OGOP), Lyonchhen said, is one of the programmes under the Queen’s Project Office. “Its pivotal objective is to uplift the livelihoods of farmers by encouraging them to sell products that are made in their respective gewogs.”

Queen’s Project Office shared that in future, products from gewogs will be branded as OGOP which will be a plus point for farmers while marketing their produce.PM launches three events as part of celebration---

Queen’s Project Office’s Zimpon Wom. Tashi said since this is an initial stage, they are helping farmers package their produce and brand them as well. But, later on, he said they will have to compete for the brand. “Once the products get the OGOP brand, I think people will buy them blindly.”

The Prime Minister also launched food festival displaying varieties of Bhutanese cuisine from across the country. Twenty best chefs from 20 dzongkhags are taking part in the event.PM-Nyikem Gongzhu Tshogpa

The third event, the Prime Minister inaugurated was an exhibition by Nyikem Gongzhu Tshogpa. It is a pictorial exhibition of the country’s monarchs  and their achievements. The exhibition also includes possessions of Jigme Namgyal.
