Silung Pekar Chhoeling Goenpa gets a new thongdrel

Silung Pekar Chhoeling Goenpa gets a new thongdrel---The Silung Pekar Chhoeling Goenpa, a 600-year-old monastery in Dawakha, Paro, now has a new thongdrel. The monastery is the seat of Drubthob Thangthong Gyalpo.

It took one year for the thongdrel to be complete. It is funded by the Her Majesty the Royal Grandmother, Ashi Kesang Choeden Wangchuck.

The Royal Grandmother, Ashi Kesang Choeden Wangchuck,  Her Royal Highness, Ashi Pema Lhaden Wangchuck, officials from Paro Dzongkhag, and residents of Dawakha attended the consecration ceremony, yesterday.

Tshog Gi Lopen, Dorji Rinchen and the monks of Zhung Dratsang performed the Rabney Ceremony.

The ceremony also included an offering of Ku Sung Thug Gi Mendrel to Her Silung Pekar Chhoeling Goenpa gets a new thongdrel---Majesty the Royal Grandmother by the people and officials of Paro Dzongkhag.

Her Majesty the Royal Grandmother also gave soelras to those involved in the construction of the thongdrel.

The people also received Dragmar Terwang blessings from Tshog Gi Lopen.

Perched on a small hill below the dawakha village, the Silung Pekar Chhoeling Monastery was built in the 14th century by Drupthob Thangthong Gyalpo.

The two-stored monastery has a Tempa as the main sacred relic. The monastery has a lam, two teachers and 16 monks.
