Maggi Noodles temporarily banned in Bhutan-Maggi Noodles, manufactured by Nestle India, is temporarily banned for both display and sale in the country with immediate effect since the source of the implicated product is from India, a press release from agriculture ministry says.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority in India had issued a notification asking Nestle India to withdraw and recall the Maggi noodles from the market as it was found to be unsafe and hazardous for human consumption.

The release says violation of the notification shall be dealt in accordance with the Food Act of Bhutan 2005 and its regulations.

The Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority (BAFRA) has sent samples of Maggi noodles to Thailand after Indian Media reported that it contained high amount of lead and Monosodium Glutamate. Monosodium glutamate is a flavour enhancer used in many processed food.
