Of the about 200 B.Ed graduates, who were not selected by Royal Civil Service Commission, 200 have been recruited as regular contract teachers.
They are to replace community-based teachers, whose contract expires within the next six months.
The selected lot will be working on a two-year contract. They will be paid less than regular teachers but with allowances, according to the education ministry’s Chief Human Resource Officer, Kinley Gyeltshen.
The officer told the graduates that they can still opt for regular jobs, after giving a three-month notice. They will also be allowed to sit for civil service examination again, they were told.
The graduates were recruited based on their merit ranking percentage scored in the civil service exam.
