PM + Ambassador of Kazakhstan- The Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay met with the Ambassador of Republic of Kazakhstan to India, Bulat Sarsenbayev, at Gyalyong Tshogkhang, this morning.

Lyonchhen said the Ambassador’s presence in the neighbourhood meant Bhutan and Kazakhstan would be able to develop closer ties. He also said as a similar landlocked country, Bhutan could learn a lot from Kazakhstan’s success story.

Lyonchhen and Ambassador Sarsenbayev discussed on collaborating together and exploring tourism opportunities by encouraging people-to-people contact, promoting student exchange programmes and combating climate change.

Lyonchhen also proposed acquiring Kazakhstan’s assistance in building cycling trails around Thimphu, which could be used for commuting, as well as, for sporting activities.

The Prime Minister said he is looking forward to working together and strengthening ties with Kazakhstan in the coming years.
