kudungPunakha Dratshang has three new Kudungs of Sha, Paro and Tshogchen. The three Kudungs were appointed by the Dorji Lopen of the Zhung Dratshang this morning. The appointment is in line with the age-old tradition, coinciding with the Traditional Day of offering.

Lobey Gembo from Nisho Gewog under Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag is the new Kudung Sha. He joined Dechenphodrang Monastic School and studied Buddhist philosophy at the age of 13.

Lobey Gempo also studied Zhungchen Chusum or the 13 Great Expository texts under the guidance of late Drabai Lobey Kuenley Gyeltshen. He also received Wanglung thrue sum from His Holiness the Je khenpo and the 68th Je Khenpo.

Tshewang Rinzin from Issu Gewo under Haa Dzongkhga is appointed as the new Kudung Paro. He also joined Dechenphodrang Monastic School at the age of 7 and later joined Pung Thim Dratshang.

He received various initiations from His Holiness the Je Khenpo.

And Lobey Dorji is the new Kudung Tshogchen. He is from Guma Gewog in Punakha. He too studied at Dechenphodrang Monastic School and later joined the central monastic body.

Lobey Dorji also received Wanglung thrue sum from His Holiness the Je khenpo and the 68th Je Khenpo.
