Three ‘surrendered’ Secretaries should be reinstated- OppositionThe Opposition Party says they want the three ‘surrendered’ secretaries back to the service until an independent and transparent investigation, being undertaken by the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC), is complete. They were speaking to media yesterday.

The government had ‘surrendered’ the three secretaries to the RCSC saying they had exceeded their mandates, breached rules, and misused the Committee of Secretaries.

The Member of Parliament, Yeshey Zimba said the Opposition is deeply saddened and disappointed by the government’s decision to surrender the three secretaries to the RCSC without carrying out a thorough investigation.

“Such decision by the government has disturbed the minds of the civil servants.” Yeshey Zimba also said the ‘surrendering’ of the three secretaries was not in line with the civil service act as pointed out by the RCSC.

Panbang MP, Dorji Wangdi said the decision of the government can be perceived as victimisation and penalisation of secretaries for actually executing the directives of the government.

The Opposition also says the Committee of Secretaries plays a critical role in terms of looking after the overall government initiatives. They said without the committee, policies involving cross-sectoral issues will be undermined.
