A 76-year-old man from Yongphula under Kanglung Gewog in Trashigang has been sentenced to five years in prison for raping his physically and mentally challenged granddaughter.
The man was charged for raping a child above 12 years old.
The police arrested the man in September last year after the gewog administration lodged a complaint.
The Trashigang Distracts Court, meanwhile, levied a fine of Nu.3,750 to the mother of the victim for failing to report the crime.
The court passed its verdict December 16, last year.
