FM_SAARCSummitThe Foreign Minister, Rinzin Dorje, said SAARC must be made more relevant to the people in the region and to the world through deeper integration. He was speaking at the 36th Session of the SAARC Council of Ministers held in Kathmandu, today.

The theme for this year’s summit is Deeper Integration for Peace and Prosperity. Lyonpo said the theme is an inspiration to go the extra mile in deepening regional integration and take cooperation to the next level.

Foreign ministers from the eight member countries led their delegations to the meeting.

The meeting deliberated on a number of issues, including agriculture and rural development, poverty alleviation and other health and social issues.
SAARC was instituted in 1985.
