His Holiness confers Toedtse Jim to a Japanese monkHis Holiness the Je Khenpo conferred Toedtse Jim to a Japanese monk for completing 10 years of study and practice of Buddhism in Bhutan.

Hiromitsu Kiyokawa was one of the two monks who were given permission to study and practice Buddhism in Bhutan by His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and Her Majesty the Queen Mother Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck in 2004.

Hiromitsu Kiyokawa spent first five years at the Tango University of Buddhist Studies learning Buddhist philosophy and grammar. Then he entered Cheri Meditation Centre and completed three-year retreat under the guidance of His Holiness Je Thrizur Tenzin Dendup. He spent another two years practicing and studying ritual services and ceremonies.

Another Japanese monk will enter into retreat next month in Tango.
